Inherit The Wind

-How does American society view Creationism and Darwin’s theory of evolution in our contemporary world today?

People in society have different views on Creationism and Darwins theory of evolution in our contemporary world today. Some believe that life and the Earth were created in their original form by God, while others believe that life and Earth were created over time. Both beliefs create an argument between the American society.

"This is not so much a literal view of Hillsboro as it is an impression of a sleepy, obscure country town about to be vigorously awakened" (3)

In the small town of Hillsboro, the community is torn between the view of Creationism and Darwin's theory of evolution.

"You know why I did it. I had the book in my hand, Hunter's Civic Biology. I opened it up, and read my sophomore science class Chapter 17, Darwins Origin of Species. All it says is that man wasn't just stuck here like a geranium in a flower pot; that living comes from a long miracle, it didn't just happen in seven days (8)"

As Bert Cates awaits trial for teaching his students about Darwin's theory of Evolution the town of Hillsboro waits with anticipation to find out the final results of the trial.

"I suppose everybody's all steamed up about Brady coming (8)."

Matthew Harrison Brady, the leader of the prosecution, arrives
to a big warm welcome from the commuinty and complete confidence of winning the case.

"It isn't as simple as that. Good or bad, black or white, night or day.(9)"

Bert Cates, not intimated by Matthew Harrison Brady stays strong in the court room and fights for his belief of education.

Which theory will come out on top? Or will the trial end in peace?
